7f. Country snapshots (F-22 to F-29)

Overview

Section §5 of the policy report devotes one full A4 page to each priority country, packaged as a single composite figure (F-22 … F-29). This Quarto page is the production line that emits those composites.

Each snapshot contains three panels arranged with patchwork:

  1. Header bar — country name, N, fieldwork date, FIMI version highlighted.
  2. Overall-FIMI bar with the EU range (min_country_mean–max_country_mean) and EU mean (CI) overlaid as reference whiskers.
  3. Four-axis radar of Threat / Betrayal / Fear / Admiration with the EU-mean polygon as a faint underlay.
  4. Mini bar plot of the three strongest local predictors of FIMI in that country, taken from 7e (s4_country_predictor_rank.csv).

The composite template is implemented once as render_country_snapshot(iso3) and called inside a purrr::walk() over the snapshot country set. Filename convention: outputs/policy_report/figures/F-22_LTU_snapshot.{png,pdf} … F-29_GEO_snapshot.{png,pdf}.

figure_id iso3 country_name rationale
F-22 LTU Lithuania S1, S2, S5 home base; richest within-country longitudinal evidence.
F-23 DEU Germany S3 + S4; only Western-European country with first-order data.
F-24 POL Poland High-salience FIMI target; large diaspora exposure.
F-25 HUN Hungary Geopolitical alignment makes admiration/threat divergence informative.
F-26 BGR Bulgaria Lowest-trust EU member state in S4 sample; useful contrast.
F-27 SRB Serbia Candidate country with strong Russian-content exposure.
F-28 TUR Turkey Candidate country; tests the radar template under high cultural distance.

Note

F-29 (Georgia) is intentionally deferred — current S4 country-of-origin data leaves Georgia with a single respondent. Once the panel provider returns country-of-residence, restore the snapshot via scripts/policy_report/F-22_to_F-29_country_snapshots.R.
